Hotbed Fest

Hotbed FestThe Hotbed Festival is one of the UK’s leading theatre writing festivals. Established in 2002, the festival has offered many new writers the opportunity to show what they have to offer the performing arts field in the UK. The festival even has its own website at hotbedfest.co.uk.

Since 2002, the Hotbed Festival has been held every year and has gained a growing reputation for the sheer variety this writing festival offers. Visitors to the festival are able to see some full productions, as well as unfinished works which are assessed by some of the main players in UK performing arts.

Additionally, promising writers can also attend workshops hosted by some of the UK’s most prominent theatre writers, as well as joining the audience at one of the performing arts panel discussions.

The Hotbed Festival is held in Cambridge, over a weekend in November. The festival also offers something to charities. For example, the winner of the ‘One Page Play’ competition receives a cash donation to give to a charity of their choice. This offers promising writers the chance to make a name for themselves and do their bit for charity at the same time.

Increasingly, the Hotbed Festival is attracting the attention of the national media. There have been articles about the festival in broadsheets, such as the Guardian. Additionally, the 2010 festival featured some live radio dramas from the BBC. More details about media coverage can be seen on hotbedfest.co.uk.
